HISTORY

Asset 12@4x.png

The Founding Mothers of Theta Alpha Christian Sorority wanted to establish a ministry that was closely structured to traditional Greek sororities, but whose foundation was set upon the gospel of Jesus Christ. With the help of some Christian brothers at the University of Florida, our Founding Mothers sought the Lord in prayer and began the process of creating a Christian Sorority. In the Spring of 2006, Theta Alpha was founded at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Florida.

From the very beginning, the Founding Mothers wanted to make accountability, discipleship, spiritual growth, and fellowship among Christian sisters the key components of Theta Alpha. Today this legacy lives on. Our big and little sister relationships are centered on the concept of Christian discipleship between believers. Chapter members are also assigned to accountability groups, who meet weekly for the purpose of encouraging one another to live biblical principles. Our events focus on both fellowship and spiritual growth, as we actively participate in prayer nights, sisterhood activities, socials, service, and philanthropic projects.

In December of 2015, the National Chapter of Theta Alpha Christian Sorority became a recognized non-profit.

Theta Alpha honors Laurie Bailey, Caroline Burns, Beth Cordova, Kaitlin Griffiths, Kristen Rupert, and Lindsey Soulis as the National Founders.
