Theta Alpha at UF is proud to support Danny Wuerffel’s Desire Street Ministries through our annual Showdown philanthropy event. Desire Street Ministries partners with leaders of urban ministries to avoid burn out as those leaders live out the mission of Jesus in tougher areas around the US. Showdown is a military style obstacle course and race that challenges teams of four through army crawls, tire flips and more. The winner of Showdown receives a signed football from Danny Wuerffel!

 

The Delta chapter of Theta Alpha has selected Orlando Children’s Church, a non-profit, Christian outreach ministry hosted by First Baptist Church Maitland, as their philanthropy Every Saturday, buses travel through various inner-city Orlando communities, picking up over 400 school-aged children from Pre-K through seniors in high school. The students are hosted for a church service, served breakfast and can play outside and participate in outdoor recreation activities. The good news of God, His love, and His purpose and plan for each of the lives are shared with the students in age-appropriate settings. The Delta chapter serves Orlando Children's Church, hoping to build a relationship with the organization and the students directly in their community.
